Hannah Montana: The Movie (soundtrack)



Hannah Montana: The Movie is the soundtrack to the film of the same name, and was released on March 24, 2009 on Walt Disney Records.[1] On the soundtrack, songs are performed by Miley Cyrus (both as Cyrus and Hannah Montana), Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift and Steve Rushton. The song's "Butterfly Fly Away", which is performed by Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus, and "Back to Tennessee", also from Billy Ray Cyrus, appear on his new album, Back to Tennessee.

The Album peaked in at #2 selling 137,592 copies first week.

In her second week the album sold 87,000 copies and put in #5 in Billboard 200, in her third week the album sold 126% more selling 196,000 copies and put in #2 in Billboard 200.

The album had sold 422,000 in the U.S.

The fouth single released was Miley Cyrus' (credited as herself) "The Climb", which is her first release to country music radio as a solo artist. The song debuted at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in March. The fifth single, "Hoedown Throwdown," (also by Miley as herself) was released on March 10, 2009 as a Radio Disney-exclusive single on their iTunes page.

"Let's Do This"

"Let's Do This" was originally released to Radio Disney to support the third season of Hannah Montana. The video premiered in Disney channel during December. The song reached the summit of the Radio Disney charts in March, 2009. Due to digital download sales, the song peaked on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles Chart at number 23 (Hot 100 - 123).

"Let's Get Crazy"

"Let's Get Crazy" was originally released to Radio Disney to support the third season of Hannah Montana. The video premiered on January 2009; it regards to Lily's Sweet Sixteen.The song peaked inside the Top 10 on Radio Disney, and due to strong digital sales, peaked at number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 and fellout of the charts the week after. It made a re-entry on the Hot 100 on April 16 at no. 75.

"Back To Tennessee"

"Back To Tennessee" is a single from Billy Ray Cyrus's album of the same name that was released on April 7, 2009. the song entered the charts for the week of March 14, 2009, where it entered at #59. That same week, Cyrus' daughter, Miley Cyrus, charted her first solo country single, "The Climb", which also entered for the week of March 14, at #48. With father-daughter charting separate singles at the same time, it made chart history. That was the first time a father-daughter charted their own singles since Johnny Cash and Rosanne Cash did so in 1990.[2] Both singles were released in promotion of Hannah Montana: The Movie. The music video for "Back to Tennessee" debuted on CMT on March 12, 2009, directed by Declan Whitebloom.[3]

"The Climb"

"The Climb" was Cyrus's biggest chart effort on Billboard Hot 100 peaking and debuting at no. 6, surpassing "7 Things" which peaked at no. 9. Meanwhile in Radio Disney, the track is still on, at number 2.The song was released to the common Country and Pop Radio. Miley Cyrus performed the song in the Kids Inaugural on January 20. The video was released in early February and it features clips of the film, as well as Cyrus on scenes involving a mountain.

"Hoedown Throwdown"

"Hoedown Throwdown" is the dance-number of Hannah Montana: The Movie. It's chart efforts were decent, previously peaking at 46 and debuting at 56 on Billboard Hot 100. For the week of April 18th the song made a 28 spot jump on the Hot 100 to find a new peak at no. 28, marking Cyrus' fifth consecutive Top 40 hit. The music video features the dance from the motion picture. Cyrus and her choreographer, Jamal Sims, posted an instructional video for the Hoedown Throwdown's dance, called "How to Do the Hoedown Throwdown" on Youtube that was available for pre-order in iTunes. In Radio Disney, the song reached the sixth position.

"You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home"

"You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home" is the sixth single from Hannah Montana: The Movie and the final number. It is performed by Miley Cyrus and written by Taylor Swift and Martin Johnson. The song gained popularity with the release of the album and due to digital sales, the track peaked and debuted at no. 87 on Billboard Hot 100. The next week it fell 10 spots down; though it moved up to no. 88 for the week of April 18th, due to stronger digital sales which was gained through the movie. The music video has been advertised through DisneyChannel.com.

"Crazier"

"Crazier" is a ballad featured on the Hannah Montana: The Movie's soundtrack that was performed and written by Taylor Swift. The song, like "You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home", also gained popularity in the release of the soundtrack. The song debuted at 72; then the week later it peaked at 69. It made a 31 spot jump for the week of April 18th to find a new peak at no. 38. The video has been playing on Disney Channel, released in early April.

"Butterfly Fly Away"

"Butterfly Fly Away" is a song performed by Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus. It gained popularity through the release of Hannah Montana: The Movie to theaters. An extended version of the song is featured in Billy Ray Cyrus's album Back to Tennessee.

"Dream"

"Dream" is a song performed by Miley Cyrus. It was used in two montages for the film. "Dream" reached a 83 peak in iTunes in the opening weekend of the movie's release, but failed to reach the Billboard Hot 100.
